My Story
I am Vicki Lee Walke-Anderson Conley, born in 1941 in the San Francisco Bay Area during the Pearl Harbor blackouts. Reared by a hairdresser mother that was working on her PhD in Spanish to teach English as a second language at Fresno area schools to Hispanic students; and a merchant marine father.
My grandmother owned/managed a beauty-salon for the rich and famous in the San Francisco Bay Area. My Armenian grandfather, a survivor of the Turkish wars, gifted me a violin and educational benefits. Growing up in Fresno's rich soil of the San Joaquin Valley, I married Wiley “Roger”Conley, Jr. and together, we owned/operated Conley’s TV and Wood Stoves in Shelton, Centralia/Chehalis, and Olympia, Washington while rearing, our children, Leeana, Margie, and Wiley, lll. where I served as VP on the Shelton School Board.
Facing challenges, like my husband's open-heart surgery in 1985, we moved to Oklahoma City where I completed my Bachelor’s degree at Southern Nazarene University prior to his death. With our loyalty to family, rooted in both a large Irish family and my own, we created a self-sufficient and sovereign lifestyle. After Roger's passing in 1996, I married my husband Dana, a builder and fellow farmer.
I suffered a heart arrest in 2006, prompted by food and water poisoning that led to a profound realization during the pandemic. I experienced an out-of-body journey that I am much more than just the physical body; and that I learned as a child from my mother’s belief: “The scientific statement of being is this: "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all. Spirit is immortal Truth; matter is mortal error.” by Mary Baker Eddy, founder of The Christian Science Church
Embracing a pescatarian lifestyle, avoiding, if possible pharmaceuticals, and dancing to my own rhythm, I remain connected to nature. Grateful for the wake-up call, my daughter, Leeana brought me during the pandemic,
I am alive and thriving at 82 on our Golden Years Retreat permaculture farm, cultivating and building an off-grid sovereign life.
